SECURE ON THE ROCK

06-26-2021

Everything in this world is uncertain, especially in these times we are living in right now. People, disappointments, jobs, money, relationships, the feeling of security, it seems to be up one minute and down the next. Things are good and we feel secure, only to have it vanish into thin are the very next day. What makes us feel secure anyway? Is it when you feel healthy and strong, ready to take on the world? Is it when you have money in your account and a good job? How about a close family?

According to what the Bible says, (the Bible is the TRUTH, THE ONLY TRUTH. This highest form of reality that exists) Our true sense of security should come from God and only from Him.

To know where we stand with God, in life, in the middle of any storm or uncertainty that comes our way, we have to change our identity. We have to change where we place our trust and security. Every single one of us has it in something or someone. The only way to live life and not be knocked down by one storm after another is to base our entire identity on the Rock and that Rock is Christ. How we see ourselves is very, very important. It’s time to secure our identity.

I don’t know about you by I’m done living wishy washy in God and in my Christian walk. Up and down, consistent one day and backtracking the next. Wishy washy in God’s redemption, healing, feeling worthy or not. I want a solid rock foundation that can’t be shaken! I want to know God so closely, so intimately that it’s the most sure thing I know. This kind of foundation people search for all their lives can only be found in one place, THE WORD OF GOD.

Being wishy washy isn’t faith. Faith isn’t a question mark. It knows! And it isn’t based on what you feel or see. A strong sense of identity in Christ equals strong faith.

Has this ever happened to you? A while back, I would wake up in the middle of the night and these negative, condemning thoughts came from the enemy. They would whisper all sorts of lies. “You’re so unworthy. You will never be good enough. How could you have done that? And you call yourself a Christian!” I would fight against them until I fell back to sleep. More recently, my church has been live streaming several Bible studies I’m a part of each week ever since covid started. During one of the powerful messages, we started talking about everything Jesus made available to us when He died on the cross. It completely changed my life! So, the next time I woke up on the middle of the night and those negative thoughts came knocking, I did something different! This time, instead of resisting those thoughts, I took control of my thoughts. Instead of listening to the devil’s lies, I chose to think about how Jesus’ blood cleansed me from all unrighteousness. I even spoke Bible verses that said so. Those negative lies got out of there in a hurry! I was free!

My identity in that area changed when I heard the TRUTH.

That true sense of security from this firm foundation doesn’t come from your job, income, people, or family… it only comes from God. When people get hurt or disappointed, it’s mostly likely because they’ve placed their security too much onto something or someone that belongs to God.

Job 11:18-19 ESV And you will feel secure, because there is hope you will look around and take your rest in security You will lie down without fear of anyone. Many people will come to you for help.

Jeremiah 33:6 ESV Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security.

If you’re having an identity crisis today, don’t put up with it for one more minute. Change your identity by getting into the Word of God. I encourage you to start reading from the Epistles (Acts to Revelations and everything in between) because those books talk all about our identity! To know who we are in Christ and to change our identity to line up with the Word, we have to start with what happened when we got born again and what Jesus did! Pretty soon, you will be standing on a firm foundation that no one and no circumstance can talk you out of. You will be secure, deeply rooted on the ROCK.
Remember, there is ALWAYS hope. Love, Kelly
