Cherry Blossom House Project
I was so thrilled to be hired by the sweetest couple for this project. They were an absolute joy to work with. This painting was a birthday present for his mother's 87th birthday. This is a picture of her home and beautiful tree. The couple had the painting framed and are very happy with it. Please scroll down to see the progress until the finished painting at the end. Kelly Aul is a gifted and talented artist. My husband and I commissioned her to paint a watercolor of the family home to give to my mother in law for her 89th birthday.
Working from photos, Kelly was able to accurately paint the home and at the same time, edit out features from the photos that we didn't want included in the picture. (A car in the driveway, antenna, hose reel, ect)
She was also able to include a favorite tree in bloom using other older photos. In short, it was not an easy task! The result was a beautiful revision of the home and surrounding trees and landscape. It is just stunning and the detail in the painting seems more like an oil painting than a watercolor!
Kelly asked many questions and kept us updated all through the process. She worked quickly and took every direction we gave her quite seriously. We are happy to report that this gift was loved by my mother in law! It will become a family heirloom and will be treasured.
