This story is uniquely narrated from a plant’s point of view, Pretty Parsley, to be precise. The author, Bethany Laurel, invites readers on a journey to appreciate delightful discoveries in the joy and variety of life cycles in a garden. Readers learn about a variety of herbs and vegetables and, as they do, are given an array of tasty suggestions on how to enjoy each of them. They learn how the plants are not only healthy for humans but also how they help each other by where they are planted. Ms. Laurel enjoys implanting information about other creatures we are likely to find in our gardens as well. She displays a gentle ease in keeping a positive perspective on how those creatures interact with the plants in the garden. Sprinkled throughout the story, readers will also find tender reminders of how we are all uniquely made for a purpose by our Creator. - Jill R. Director/Teacher of Childcare
As a librarian, I always enjoy watching young readers coming into the library to find the “perfect book.” I was fortunate to come across Pretty Parsley, a delightful little book with vivid and eye-catching illustrations that bring the book to life. This little book has so many great lessons for children (parents too!) It is well-written and easy to read. The message speaks about nature and nutrition, getting along with each other, thanking our Creator, choosing our attitudes, being thankful, and realizing that we are each wonderfully made! Most definitely a good and positive read for all ages! Thumbs up! -Vonna A. Librarian
Pretty Parsley is a wonderful story for children to learn about the importance of plants, insects, and our wonderful world. This story was told by Pretty Parsley and all her friends, who had delightful names. Ms. Cute Carrot, and Buddy Beet, only to name a few. She told us so many facts about her friends! A fun story to introduce children to plants and gardening. This will be a fun read for children and their parents. I imagine after reading this, many will be wanting to make their own garden. - Paula W. Retired Librarian
