My Favorite time of the day

“You’re only one thought away from having a good day.”

What is your favorite time of the day? Mine is in the morning. Now, I’m not talking about 5 AM or anything. I grew up being homeschooled so I’m not really a super early morning person. Morning is so fresh, like a blank canvas.

L.M. Montgomery (the author of Anne of Green Gables) said, “Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?”

The morning is such a great time to decide on the daily tasks ahead. I strongly believe how you spend your morning, greatly affects how the rest of the day will go. I so enjoy waking up, getting my warm slipper socks and fuzzy robe on to grab my delicious sugar free, flour free breakfast and a nice warm, caramel apple spice tea. Then I head back to bed, under the cozy blankets.

Next comes the best part! Opening my Bible. This transforming letter from God to me, is bursting with life, health, wisdom, peace, joy, and it holds the answer to every question and circumstance I will ever face.

Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life in your presence there is fullness of joy at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 62:5-7 Find rest, O my soul, in God alone my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God he is my mighty rock, my refuge.

Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

These verses are all the more reason why it is so beneficial for us to start our day with Him. This is when He gives me the best ideas. Like this blog for example! And the Recipe Ideas Facebook group that has grown to 17,400 members! Ideas for historical novels, subjects to preach on, and so much more. Spending time in His presence is NEVER wasted time.

My mom said, “You’re only one thought away from having a good day.” This is such a true statement!

One morning, I was awake but still hadn’t opened my eyes yet. I was just lying there, contemplating life, when I started to get angry at something. Poisonous, resentful thoughts came, threatening the day ahead and my outlook. All of a sudden, those wonderful words from my mother came back to me. “You’re only one thought away from having a good day.” So inside myself I said, “Stop that! Negative thoughts, get out of here! I’m going to have a great day today. Today is a great day with so many things to be thankful for. This is the day that the Lord has made. I’m going to be glad! I get a vote on how this day rolls, and I vote NO to negativity!”

It’s amazing how quickly those angry thoughts vanished. What if I wouldn’t have told them to leave? It was so easy!

I opened my eyes and got up to go make my breakfast, when all of a sudden, my eyes fell upon the most scrumptious sight you ever did see! Sitting before me was a round tray with my favorite tea and a beautiful tropical bake, topped with a frosting-looking white dollop on top. (sugar and flour free of course). Here my dear, sweet sister had surprised me with breakfast in bed. All I could do was stare at it at first. I was so glad I had changed my attitude. God is so good!

What is your favorite time of the day and why?

Remember, there is ALWAYS hope!
Love, Kelly
