I've never done this before!
Sharing my writing journey is a very personal one. I can’t help but pour my heart and soul into my writing that sharing it with others sometimes feels like I’m sharing a page from my personal diary. But this time is different. God has been leading me to do what I’ve never done before…to open up and bring you on this journey with me. My hope in sharing this is that you might be inspired to open up and do what you’ve never done before but always wanted to. Here goes!
Since writing my last novel, I have gotten an idea for a new story. I have been working on it for the past 2 years. The book title, characters, names, and storyline were all in place. Yet, every time I worked on it, it was a struggle. Every page, every word was a struggle! I've experienced writer's block, waiting for inspiration, before but for two years? I knew something was wrong, but what?
I had written other things since my last novel but I knew I wasn’t finished with novels. I felt like God was transitioning me somehow, however, before knowing exactly what He had in mind, I felt like I was in limbo land! That is until about 2 months ago!!
I had a dream that changed everything. When I woke up, I immediately wrote it down. As I sat down on my bed with my breakfast and Bible, as is my daily routine, I couldn’t help but think about the dream. Though it was short, it wasn’t just an ordinary dream. This was something more. Little did I know how much more.
As I prayed about it, the Lord dropped a story into my heart. It felt more like a huge wave fell over me. A gigantic, exciting, inspiration-filled, wonderful wave! How I missed the excitement and inspiration. I hadn’t felt that spark in me for a LONG time.
As I got ready for the day, I carried around my journal because every other minute, I had to grab it and write down an idea, then another, and another. If I didn’t, it felt as if I would burst! IT WAS AWESOME!
I’ll definitely be sharing more details about the book itself. Don’t worry! I won’t give away too much. The biggest detail that even surprised me was the date of the book. It’s set in a modern-day time period which is very new to me. As most of you know, the novels I’ve written are all based in the 19th century. I always said I could only write historical. I should have known God would take me on a new adventure of modern day!

In the days following that morning, I felt like everything I touched, I got more inspired. Not just for this story but for other things as well. Inspiration hit so much so, I wrote and published three more books in only a matter of weeks. Two more Rescued from Food Addiction Devotionals, and two Ultimate Planners.
The limbo land is gone and in its place, a renewed excitement and purpose from God. This time though, He was leading me to not keep this to myself but to open up and share it with all of you. Not just to read about me and think, “Oh wow, that’s great. Good for her.” But for your benefit! To, as Lucy Maud Montgomery put it in her beloved book Anne of Green Gables, blow the fog out of your souls!
