“I have so much to do that I shall spend the first 3 hours in prayer.” Martin Luther.

Time is our most precious commodity. It’s more valuable than money or possessions. A truly prosperous person understands the value of time.

The richest people are those who possess the most time. It seems like the older we get, the more we realize this. Remember when we were kids? One day seemed like an eternity! Just waiting for lunch time was something! When I got my job, 9 hours seemed like a long time. But now it goes by faster than it used to. The more we become aware of time, we can find ourselves almost obsessing over how much time we have, how we’re spending it, and the lengths we go so we don’t waste it.

Did you know there is a fine line between valuing time and being dominated by the pressure of the clock?

People all over the world believe there just isn’t enough time in their day to do what needs to be done. So the minute alarm clock goes off, they hit the floor, and take off like they are in a race. The problem with this is, people can start to spend every waking moment on themselves getting everything done, hurrying onto the next task at hand, and don’t leave any time left for God.

If anyone was more aware of the clock, Jesus was. He only had a few short years to do and say all that God told Him to do. But He did it. If we were to ask Jesus how He mastered time management, He would say.

John 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone for I do always those things that please him.

What He said in these two verses are simple. I only say what I hear my Father say and I only do what I see my Father do.

That should be our answer too. But how will we ever know what our Father is saying unless we take time to listen? You might feel like if you spend time seeking God, a million other things won’t get done. But spending time with God is NEVER WASTED TIME.

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings as eagles they shall run, and not be weary and they shall walk, and not faint.

God told a Lynette Hammond: If you will give Me one thing, I can change anything about you. I can change your mind. I can change your soul. I can change your body. I can change your finances. There’s only one thing that has been hardest for you to give – YOUR TIME.

If God can get you to stay in His presence, He can handle anything in your life. There are Christians whose whole personality needs to be changed and rearranged before they can fit in the place where they have been called. I’m speaking to myself as well.

If we will sow time in God’s presence, we will reap those results. But many believe, “I just don’t have time!”

We all have the same amount of time. We’re just spending that time doing something else.

Let’s take a fresh look at the time God has given us. He knows we have jobs, family, friends, shopping, cooking, cleaning. He will order our steps. I know we’ve all had those promptings during the other hours of the day.

We just have to obey them. And before we know it, it will be difficult to pull ourselves away from His presence. When we seek first the kingdom of God, all these things will be added to us. (Matthew 6) When we seek Him first, we will find more time on our hands than we thought! You’ll get things done more quickly. Jobs will be easier to do. Everything will seem like it just fits into place.

Here are a few more powerful scriptures about time.

Colossians 4:5 Behave wisely toward outsiders, making the best use of your time.

Ephesians 5:15-17 So, then, be careful how you live. Do not be unwise but wise, making the best use of your time because the times are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

Psalm 37:5 Commit your way to the LORD trust in Him, and He will act.

Remember, there is ALWAYS hope. Love, Kelly
